94% of adults plan to visit the dentist in 2022

Nearly all U.S. adults plan to visit a dentist this year as many credit the pandemic with making them more health-conscious, according to a March 16 Delta Dental report

Delta Dental surveyed more than 1,000 U.S. adults between Jan. 19 and 28.

Four findings:

1. Ninety-four percent of adults plan to visit a dentist in 2022.

2. Seventy-four percent of adults say the pandemic made them more aware of their health.

3. Eighty-six percent say maintaining their oral health is essential to protecting their overall health.

4. More adults are facing dental issues compared with last year’s survey. Eighty-six percent had cavities, a 6 percent increase from last year. Seventy-four percent experienced pain or toothaches, a 7 percent increase, and 67 percent had tooth sensitivity, a 6 percent increase.
