5 states with the most, fewest pediatric dentists

California has the most pediatric dentists than any other state in the U.S., while Vermont has the fewest, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The health policy nonprofit recorded the number of active dentists in seven specialties, including general dentistry, oral surgery and orthodontics. The data was collected as part of a special request from the American Dental Association.

Texas: 824

New York: 719

Florida: 484

New Jersey: 359

Fewest

Vermont: 9

Wyoming: 14

North Dakota: 15

South Dakota: 18

West Virginia: 20
