Illinois and Rhode Island are the only two states where dental assistant pay dropped from 2021 to 2022, according to salary data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Illinois

2021: $42,400

2022: $41,290

Decrease of $1,110

Rhode Island

2021: $46,070

2022: $44,340
