US dental schools with the highest acceptance rates

Jackson-based University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry has a 29.4 percent acceptance rate — the highest among U.S. dental schools — according to academic consulting website BeMo.  

Here are the schools with the 10 highest acceptance rates and their number of applicants in 2023:

1. University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry (Jackson): 29.4 percent acceptance rate; 136 applicants

2. East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine (Greenville, N.C.): 15.8 percent acceptance rate; 328 applicants

3. A.T. Still University Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (Mesa): 13.08 percent acceptance rate; 2,323 applicants

4. University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry (Kansas City): 12.8 percent acceptance rate; 851 applicants

5. Ohio State University College of Dentistry (Columbus): 12.55 percent acceptance rate; 956 applicants

6. Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University (Augusta): 11.3 percent acceptance rate; 852 applicants

7. New York University College of Dentistry (New York City): 11 percent acceptance rate; 3,400 applicants

8. University of Utah School of Dentistry (Salt Lake City): 10.44 percent acceptance rate; 479 applicants

9. University of Minnesota School of Dentistry (Minneapolis): 10.21 percent acceptance rate; 1,009 applicants

10. University of Washington School of Dentistry (Seattle): 10.08 percent acceptance rate; 625 applicants
