Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics have the largest representation out of 12 dental specialty fields, with 10,904 orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedists in 2023, according to data from the American Dental Association.
The ADA's Health Policy Institute released 2023 data on the supply of dentists across different specialties in January.
Here is the number of dentists that 12 different dental fields had in 2023, excluding general practice dentists:
