U.S. News and Report created a list of 15 of the "best jobs you've never heard of," which includes oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
The list was compiled from the organization's "100 Best Jobs for 2024" rankings and includes professions that may be unfamiliar because they may be relatively new, highly specialized or involve individuals who work mostly behind the scenes.
Professions were included on the list for reasons such as great salaries, lower unemployment rates, travel opportunities and other benefits.
Oral and maxillofacial surgeons ranked No. 7 on the list, with a median salary of $239,200 and a projected growth rate of 5% by 2032, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The profession was also tied for the top spot on U.S. News' best-paying jobs list and placed eighth on its ranking for the best healthcare jobs.
