The non-metropolitan coastal region of Oregon has the highest salary for general dentists, according to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The agency updated its salary data May 15 to reflect 2025 information.
Here are the top five metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas with the highest annual salaries for general and specialty dentists:
General dentists
1. Coast Oregon nonmetropolitan area: $282,790
2. Sussex Delaware nonmetropolitan area: $281,080
3. St. Louis, Mo-Ill.: $261,250
4. Portland-South Portland, Maine: $261,230
5. St. Cloud, Minn.: $249,890
Specialty dentists
1. Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Fla.: $376,710
2. Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas: $327,890
3. Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands, Texas: $303,690
4. Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, Ore.-Wash.: $282,250
5. Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler, Ariz.: $280,810
