5 states with the most, fewest endodontists

California has the most endodontists of any state in the U.S., while Wyoming has the fewest, according to data from the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The health policy nonprofit recorded the number of active dentists in seven specialties, including general dentistry, oral surgery and orthodontics. The data was collected as part of a special request from the American Dental Association.

California: 888

New York: 419

Texas: 396

Florida: 389

Pennsylvania: 221

Fewest

Wyoming: 6

North Dakota: 11

Alaska: 12 

Delaware: 12

Vermont: 12
