Are dentists satisfied with their pay?

Fifty-seven percent of dentist-owners indicated they were satisfied or very satisfied with their total compensation in 2024, compared to 44.9% of associate dentists, according to Dentalpost’s 2025 Dental Salary Survey Report.

Dentalpost surveyed nearly 3,500 dental professionals to create this year’s report. The survey was conducted from October to November 2024. 

Here is how satisfied dentist owners and associate dentists are with their total compensation, including primary wages and salary, bonuses, commissions, and benefits:

Dentist owners

Very satisfied: 28.5%

Satisfied: 28.8% 

Neutral: 23.7%

Dissatisfied: 14.1%

Very unsatisfied: 4.8%

Associate dentists

Very satisfied: 10.2%

Satisfied: 34.7% 

Neutral: 28%

Dissatisfied: 21.2%

Very unsatisfied: 5.9%
