Average gross billings for owner dentists surpassed $1M in 2025

The average gross billings per dentist for owner dentists in private practice was more than $1 million in 2025, according to data from the American Dental Association. 

Solo owners’ average gross billings per dentist was more than $200,000 higher than that of owner dentists in nonsolo practices. The average gross billings was more than $1.2 million for specialty dentists. 

The ADA’s Health Policy Institute collected data for its Survey of Dental Practice.

Here is the average gross billings per dentist for owner dentists in private practice across specialties and practice size for 2025:

All dentists

All owners: $1,016,790

Solo owners: $1,110,690

Nonsolo owners: $888,780

General practitioners

All owners: $965,660

Solo owners: $1,062,180

Nonsolo owners: $836,540

Specialty dentists

All owners: $1,213,040

Solo owners: $1,289,880

Nonsolo owners: $1,100,330
