To help minority children suffering from poor dental care, Orange, Calif.-based Western Dental is launching initiatives to educate youth and families.
Here are five stats:
1. In 2012, 50 percent of U.S. children had cavities. This rate dropped to 44 percent in 2016.
2. However, 52 percent of Hispanic youth had cavities.
3. African-American children had the most untreated cavities at 17 percent.
4. Western Dental launched a direct mail campaign to educate parents about their coverage and the dental service organization’s new offices.
5. The DSO plans to open 24 dedicated pediatric offices over the next few months.
