DSO-affiliated dentists are more confident in economic conditions

Dentists who are affiliated with a DSO have higher confidence levels in the economic conditions of their dental practice, the dental industry and the U.S. overall, according to a poll from the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

More than 40% of DSO-affiliated dentists are “very confident” in the economic conditions of their practice in the next six months, compared to less than 25% of dentists who are not affiliated with a DSO, according to ADA’s “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” report from the third quarter.

Here is the percentage of dentists who are “very confident”, “somewhat confident”, and “neither confident nor skeptical” of the economic conditions for the next six months, based on their affiliation status:

Very confident: DSO, 41.1%; non-DSO, 23.9%

Somewhat confident: DSO, 37.5%; non-DSO, 34.9%

Neither confident nor skeptical: DSO, 12.5%; non-DSO, 20.8%

Very confident: DSO, 28.6%; non-DSO, 14.6%

Somewhat confident: DSO, 44.6%; non-DSO, 40.1%

Neither confident nor skeptical: DSO, 19.6%; non-DSO, 21.8%

Somewhat confident: DSO, 37.5%; non-DSO, 28.6%
