Four out of 10 dental patients would switch their dentist to one that utilizes AI, according to a recent survey conducted by dental AI company Overjet.
Here are six more things to know from the Overjet Patient Survey 2025 of 1,000 patients, which was shared with Becker’s.
- Nearly half (48%) of respondents said that their oral health is “extremely important.”
- Almost one-third said that their dentist currently uses AI to analyze X-rays.
- More than 40% believe that it is “important” or “very important” for their dentist to use the latest dental technology, including dental AI. About one-third said that is “not important” to them.
- A large majority (85%) of respondents would be more confident in their dental diagnosis if they could clearly see the problem themselves.
- Almost three-quarters of patients said that they would be more likely to accept a dentist’s diagnosis and treatment plan if it were presented with AI findings.
- When it comes to AI in healthcare, 40% of respondents are excited or optimistic, 26% are worried or pessimistic and 34% are neutral or unsure.
