Median pay for dental assistants reaches $48K: State-by-state breakdown

Minnesota has the highest annual median wage for dental assistants of any state, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In total, there were three states where the median wage for dental assistants was more than $60,000.

Below are the annual median wages for dental assistants for 49 states and Washington, D.C., based on May 2025 salary data published by the bureau. 

Across the U.S., the annual median wage for dental assistants is $48,070.

The agency updated salary data May 15, 2026, to reflect 2025 information, the latest available.
