Louisiana, the lowest-ranked state for children’s oral health, has 94 pediatric dentists, according to KFF.
Clear aligner company Smileie recently ranked states on how well they support children’s health by examining data from various organizations and surveys, including the National Survey of Children’s Health, the CDC and the American Dental Association. States were ranked based on several factors, including oral health outcomes, access to care, affordability and workforce.
Here is the number of pediatric dentists in the five lowest-ranked states for children’s oral health, using the most recent data from KFF:
1. Louisiana: 94
2. Nevada: 97
3. Mississippi: 68
4. Oklahoma: 72
5. Texas: 881
