About 40% of dentists in the U.S. participate in the Medicaid and CHIP programs as of 2024, according to data from the American Dental Association.
Participation from dentists has remained steady over the past decade, sitting between 41% and 44% each year since 2015, according to the “Dental Care in Medicaid Programs” report from the ADA’s Health Policy Institute, which draws on the latest data available as of December 2025.
In 2024, 76% of dentists in Delaware and Iowa participated in Medicaid, the highest participation percentage of any state.
Nevada has the lowest participation at just 22% in 2024.
