Oral and maxillofacial surgeons have the highest annual mean wage in the offices of dentists industry, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The average annual wage for oral and maxillofacial surgeons across all industries and practice settings is $360,240.

The agency released updated compensation data in April to reflect 2024 information, the most recent available. 

Here are the three highest-paying industries for oral and maxillofacial surgeons, along with the average annual salary:

  1. Offices of dentists: $375,120
  2. Offices of physicians: $347,480
  3. Colleges, universities and professional schools: $81,910
