A North Carolina dentist is offering COVID-19 screenings in an attempt to raise awareness and ease concerns about the virus, according to MyNetworkTV affiliate WMYA-TV.

Michael Wasson, DMD, is offering screening — not testing — at his Arden, N.C.-based dental office. The screening includes a series of questions about possible symptoms, along with a blood pressure and temperature check.

“The screenings are for anyone that comes in the door,” Dr. Wasson told WMYA-TV. “The early symptoms and signs are obvious, and we just ask those questions. If someone is not completely healthy, we’ll discourage them on the phone from coming.”

Those screened also receive a free care package, including gloves and a mask. The dental office is also offering phone screenings.

“I’m hoping other clinics will do the same,” Dr. Wasson said. “We don’t want the public to be afraid to go see their practitioners.”
