California is set to receive 327,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in a state shipment expected in mid-December, according to a Dec. 5 update from the California Department of Public Health.
Phase 1a of the distribution plan is layered into three tiers categorized in ranking order, with hospital staff in tier 1, community clinic staff in tier 2 and dentistry in tier 3. Tier 3 includes providers who provide essential healthcare in lower-risk settings.
CDPH said all phase 1a essential healthcare workers should receive their first vaccine dose by the end of January.
