Dental appointments see 10% increase since 2021: 11 report findings

More Americans are hopping back into the dental exam chair in 2022 compared to 2021, according to a report from Zocdoc, a digital healthcare marketplace.

Zocdoc released its report on dental-related appointment booking trends over the last year on Sept. 19. It analyzed dental appointment data between August 2021 and August 2022.

Eleven findings:

1. Dentist appointments have increased by 10 percent.

2. New patient dental exam appointments have increased by 18 percent.

3. Root canal appointments have increased by 20 percent.

4. Wisdom tooth appointments have increased by 17 percent.

5. Cracked tooth repair appointments have increased by 43 percent.

6. TMJ pain appointments have increased by 33 percent.

7. Dental pain appointments have increased by 32 percent.

8. Gum disease, gingivitis and bleeding gum appointments increased by 22 percent.

9. Invisalign appointments have increased by 32 percent.

10. Dental implant appointments have increased by 17 percent.

11. Broken tooth appointments have increased by 16 percent.
