Five notes:
1. Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane the night of Sept. 26, causing widespread damage in the Southeast and leading to the deaths of more than 200 people as of Oct. 3.
2. Several dental offices in the Southeast closed ahead of Hurricane Helene’s landfall, with some being able to open afterward and others unable to reopen afterward due to damage from the storm.
3. Jim Goodman, CEO and executive director of the North Carolina Dental Society, told the American Dental Association that his organization has donated items and reached out to dental offices who may need assistance.
4. The Florida Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association created relief funds, while the Tennessee Dental Association is in contact with local practices to find out how to best assist them.
5. The ADA also said several of its endorsed partners are offering assistance to ADA members, including U.S. Bank and Panacea Financial.
