A common finding across the studies is the impact that non-surgical periodontal treatments have on reducing circulating levels of inflammatory markers in patients, according to a Nov. 19 news release.

The reports also touch on how non-surgical periodontal procedures affect patients undergoing treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, the impact of dental services on glycemic control in patients with diabetes and in patients with end stage renal disease.

The research for the reports was conducted under contracts with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the release said.
