The American Dental Association has proposed a new standard to ensure dental explanations of benefits are comprehensive and consistent across practice settings and payers.
The proposed standard specifies the required data elements for generating a dental EOB, ensuring that practice management systems, payer systems and intermediaries can produce and interpret consistent EOB statements. The standard is designed to clarify financial obligations, improve dispute resolution and reduce administrative follow-ups between providers and payers, according to a July 24 news release.
The proposal is available for comment until Aug. 21.
