The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine has released new guidelines for the use of teledentistry with oral appliance therapy.
The AADSM said April 22 that its goal is to help dentists who treat obstructive sleep apnea and snoring leverage new technology while maintaining high standards of care.
The organization identified three components of oral appliance therapy that should be completed in person, including when conducting examinations, impressions and bite registrations. The AADSM said completing these tasks in person is essential for treatment accuracy, patient safety and long-term success.
At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
