The American Heart Association partnered with Delta Dental of California on resources to help dentists identify patients at risk for cardiovascular disease.

The AHA said Nov. 18 that incorporating blood pressure screenings into routine dental care visits can help identify patients who are at risk for cardiovascular disease before symptoms appear.

The two organizations launched the Healthy Smiles, Healthy Hearts initiative to help dental practices add cardiovascular screenings. The initiative includes resources to help providers understand the link between oral health and heart health and learn protocols for blood pressure screenings.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
