U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel has introduced a resolution to affirm the safety and efficacy of the use of fluoride in the U.S.

The goal of the resolution is to push back against state and local measures to ban fluoride, according to a Feb. 27 news release.

The resolution recognizes community water fluoridation as a successful public health intervention and encourages states and localities to begin or maintain water fluoridation. It also acknowledges the role of public health professionals, dental providers and community leaders in promoting evidence-based oral health initiatives. Lastly, it recognizes National Children’s Dental Health Month every February and supports the continued research and investment in water fluoridation programs.

The resolution is supported by several organizations, including the American Dental Hygienists’ Association; the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry; the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research; and the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
