Close to 50% of Utah voters approve of the bill signed to ban fluoride from public water supplies in the state, according to an April 23 report from Deseret News.

Utah became the first state to implement a statewide ban on the mineral when Gov. Spencer Cox signed HB81 into law on March 27.

Individuals can still purchase fluoride over the counter without a prescription, but it is not allowed as an additive to public drinking water.

The Utah Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the American Dental Hygienists Association advocated for Mr. Cox to veto the bill.

Strongly approve the law: 27%

Somewhat support the law: 20%

Somewhat oppose the law: 20%

Strongly oppose the law: 17%
