An Ohio lawmaker has introduced a bill that would ban fluoride from being added to public water supplies in the state.

Five notes:

1. Rep. Levi Dean introduced House Bill 182 March 18.

2. The bill was referred to the state’s Natural Resources Committee March 26.

3. Water systems in the state are currently required to add fluoride if the water’s natural content is less than .8 milligrams per liter.

4. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill that prohibits the addition of fluoride to public water supplies March 27. Florida is also considering a similar statewide ban. 5. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has not commented on House Bill 182 yet, but has previously opposed non-doctors making health decisions, the Ohio Capital Journal reported March 28.
