Regional breakdown of practices still requiring masks for staff

Most dentists still require clinical staff to wear masks continuously regardless of region, according to the American Dental Association.

This data comes from a survey conducted by the ADA and was published in March. The results are from the week of March 14 and come from 3,000 dentists working in private practices.

Percentage of dentists requiring staff to wear a mask throughout the workday by geography:

Top 20 cities

Clinical staff: 81 percent

Nonclinical staff: 72.1 percent

Other urban

Clinical staff: 71.6 percent

Nonclinical staff: 63.4 percent

Suburban

Clinical staff: 55.1 percent

Nonclinical staff: 48.3 percent 

Rural

Clinical staff: 62 percent

Nonclinical staff: 55.4 percent
