HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently admitted that removing fluoride from public water supplies could lead to more cavities, Newsweek reported June 26.
Three notes:
1. RFK Jr. has taken issue with water fluoridation several times since stepping into his new role with the HHS Department. During an April 30 cabinet meeting, he reportedly said fluoride made kids “stupider,” and said he plans to scale back the amount of fluoride in the country’s drinking water.
2. During a recent appearance on Fox News, RFK Jr. said the U.S. will see “probably slightly more cavities,” referring to this increase as a “balance.”
3. Mr. Kennedy also referenced a heavily contested report from the National Toxicology Program that found that fluoride exposure above 1.5 milligrams per liter is associated with lower IQ in children.
