Dental Intelligence, a practice management software company, has agreed to settle a proposed class-action lawsuit for $5.75 million.
The lawsuit, filed in March 2025, accused the company of collecting patient information and sharing it with Google without patients’ consent in violation of federal and state privacy laws.
The settlement class includes all U.S. residents who used Dental Intelligence’s LocalMed portal to schedule or modify appointments between March 2022 and June 2025, and whose private dental information was allegedly disclosed to an unauthorized third party, according to court documents.
The settlement agreement was filed for preliminary approval Sept. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern district of Illinois. A final approval hearing is scheduled for March 25.
