Here are 15 data breaches, security incidents and settlements that affected dental practices, teledentistry companies and DSOs in 2025, as reported by Becker’s:

  1. Greater St. Louis (Mo.) Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery suffered a data breach affecting 501 individuals. 
  2. Dentistry.One, a teledentistry subsidiary of Mouthwatch, suffered a data breach.
  3. Las Vegas-based Absolute Dental agreed to pay $3.3 million to settle a class-action lawsuit related to its data breach from earlier this year. 
  4. Delta Dental of Virginia notified individuals of a data security incident that may have involved personal and protected health information. 
  5. Las Vegas-based Absolute Dental provided notice of a data incident involving its information systems. 
  6. Dr. Doug’s Pediatric Dentistry, a dental practice in Logan, Utah, provided notice of a recent data security incident.
  7. West Texas Oral Facial Surgery in Lubbock was hit with a data breach affecting more than 11,000 individuals.
  8. 32 Pearls, which has locations in Seattle and University Place, Wash., experienced a data breach affecting 23,517 individuals.
  9. Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center in Williamsburg, Va., suffered a ransomware incident affecting 2,567 individuals.
  10. Upper Dublin Family Dentistry in Willow Grove,  Pa., experienced a data breach affecting 5,000 individuals.
  11. Minnesota Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics suffered a hacking incident affecting about 500 individuals. 
  12. Community Dental Care, a nonprofit dental clinic with five locations throughout Minnesota, suffered a data breach that involved patient information. 
  13. Nashville, Tenn.-based Chord Specialty Dental Partners experienced a data security incident affecting more than 173,000 individuals.
  14. Rinehart Dentistry in Georgetown, S.C., experienced a data breach affecting 25,000 individuals. 
  15. Artistic Family Dental, a three-office practice in Illinois, was the victim of cyber attack that led to the potential breach of patient information.
