Two Illinois residents have been charged with practicing dentistry without a license, FOX2Now reported March 11.
Idania Morena-Paal, 41, and Rudolfo Figuera, 59, allegedly performed dental procedures without licenses inside of a home in Granite City, Ill.
An investigation was launched in October after a woman told the Granite City Police Department she received dental treatment from Ms. Morena-Paal, which resulted in a tooth infection. She allegedly returned to have the tooth extracted. The patient said the infection later worsened, leading her to receive emergency treatment from a hospital.
Authorities reportedly executed a search warrant at Ms. Morena-Paal’s home Oct. 30 and discovered several items, including dental equipment, medications and various financial records.
