Wichita State University and Fort Hays State University in Kansas are partnering on a feasibility study to explore the possibility of a dental school in the state.

The Wichita State University Board of Trustees approved up to $750,000 to fund the study, which will be completed by fall 2026.

The two universities will evaluate the scope, scale and structure of a potential dental school in Wichita, Kan., along with a rural location through Fort Hays State University, according to an Aug. 7 news release. The study will focus on several areas, including cohort size, faculty needs, accreditation requirements, facility planning and potential partnerships with FQHCs.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
