Here’s what you need to know:

1. In January 2016, Francisca Lares took her daughter to Kool Smiles Dentist for a routine procedure. A few days later the 4 year old passed away. Ms. Lares is now suing Kool Smiles Dentist.

2. Ms. Lares’ attorney noted the dentist noticed her daughter had developed a fever; however, the dentist sent the 4 year old home. The family attorney argues the child could have survived if Kool Smiles Dentist treated the infection with proper treatment.

3. The lawsuit follows a second child’s death occurring earlier this month. A 2 year old stopped breathing a few days after receiving a routine filling procedure.

4. Officials are still investigating whether the 2 year old patient’s death is related to the dentist visit.

5. The trial between Ms. Lares and Kool Smiles Dentist will take place February 2019.
