Ohio dentist hires O.J. Simpson's attorney to appeal corruption verdict: 5 insights

Former Cleveland-based MetroHealth dentist Sari Alqsous, DDS, hired Alan Dershowitz to represent him on appeal after being convicted on a slew of corruption charges, according to Cleveland.com.

1. Dr. Alqsous and fellow dentists at MetroHealth were found guilty of racketeering, bribery conspiracy and other corruption charges. The charges stemmed from Dr. Alqsous' time working in MetroHealth's dental residency program.

2. While Dr. Alqsous worked in the residency program, he received thousands of dollars in bribes from perspective oversea students.

3. Additionally, investigators found Dr. Alqsous received kickbacks from a former MetroHealth executive in exchange for bonuses and referrals.

4. Mr. Dershowitz filed a motion for admission to practice in federal court for a single case. The attorney will work on Dr. Alqsous' appeal following his sentencing.

5. Mr. Dershowitz is known for his work representing O.J. Simpson during his murder trial. He has also made headlines for his support of President Donald Trump.
