Missouri dentist pleads guilty to Medicaid fraud

A Mount Vernon, Mo., dentist pleaded guilty to submitting false Medicaid claims for two years, according to the Springfield Business Journal.

Thomas Alms, DDS, agreed to pay $200,000 and surrender his dental license. He will be put on probation for five years, according to a March 20 news release from Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt.

An investigation found Dr. Alms submitted false Medicaid claims between Aug. 21, 2014, and June 14, 2016. The claims were for bone grafts, fillings, pulp vitality tests and office visits.
