Dental manufacturer 3M agreed this week to pay $32.5 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleged its Lava Ultimate dental crowns were defective, according to Mass Device.
In May 2016, 39 dentists accused 3M of making the defective crowns. The dentists claimed the crowns failed at rates that were "higher than those seen in any other crown material," according to the report.
Court documents indicated 3M sold more than 1 million Lava Ultimate dental crowns before pulling them from the market in June 2015.
Per the settlement, 3M has until June 15, 2020 to refund dentists who used Lava Ultimate crowns.
