Electronic toothbrush maker launches dental insurance alternative

Electronic toothbrush manufacturer Quip launched Quipcare, a platform that allows customers to shop for dental care, according to a July 9 news release.

Serving as a dental insurance alternative, Quipcare is offered to patients who have hit their annual maximum or are looking for treatments that are not covered. Quipcare allows patients to pay upfront without a monthly plan, and users can browse the app for different central care services.

Quipcare's network of dental professionals set rates for services that can be 30 percent to 40 percent less than average rates in patients' areas.

Users can also upgrade to Quipcare+ for $25 per month, which will include two preventative check-up and annual X-rays.

Quip is rolling out the platform in New York city first. In 2020, Quipcare will be expanded across the U.S.
