New Hampshire attorney general closes Medicaid fraud case against dentist

The New Hampshire attorney general's office ended its investigation of pediatric dentist Blake Wullbrandt, DDS, finding no evidence to support criminal charges, a spokesperson for the office confirmed with The Sentinel.

In the fall of 2017, the office's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit opened an investigation against Dr. Wullbrandt. The case opened after the parents of Dr. Wullbrandt's patients sent letters accusing the dentist of misconduct.

"The investigation did not find probable cause to support charges of Medicaid fraud with respect to billing practices,” Kate Spiner, the spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office, said in an emailed response to an inquiry from The Sentinel. “However, the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit referred this case to the Board of Dental Examiners.”

The New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners has accused Dr. Wullbrandt of professional misconduct, including overusing restraints and nitrous oxide. Dr. Wullbrandt's hearing with the dental board is scheduled for Nov. 8.
