Rhode Island dentist with practice in Bahamas provides relief after Dorian

Providence, R.I., dentist Larry Levin, DDS, has a practice in the Bahamas and is committed to helping in the hurricane relief efforts after Dorian's destruction across many islands, according to local NBC affiliate WJAR.
Dr. Levin had vacationed in the Bahamas for years and noticed the lack of dental care.

"There was no full time dentist there," Dr. Levin told WJAR. Eight years ago, he set up a practice in Long Island, Bahamas, with a sponsoring dentist from Nassau, Bahamas. Today, he flies once a month to provide care from Rhode Island.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, Dr. Levin is working with a team to visit the Northern Bahamas with supplies as soon as the runway opens.

"There's deaths, there's homeless people, the roofs were ripped off the houses, they're airlifting critical patients out of Abaco and Freeport," said Dr. Levin to WJAR. "The devastation up there is incredible."
