A man's lawsuit alleging an Illinois dentist botched his dental implants, after multiple continuances, will go to trial in October, according to the Madison-St.Clair Record.
Sydney Mulder's lawsuit against Richard Boatman Jr., DDS, owner of Troy (Ill.) Family Dental, was reset for Oct. 7. The judge said this would be the last time the trial, originally scheduled for Sept. 4, would be continued.
Following a surgical tooth extraction and denture implant installation, Mr. Mulder filed a lawsuit against Dr. Boatman in May 2016, alleging negligence and failure to take adequate measures to prevent injuries. The case has been in pretrial proceedings since then.
In the initial amended complaint, Mr. Mulder said the implants did not fit properly and that his ulcers resulted from food particles trapped between his dentures and gums. The first amended complaint alleged that Dr. Boatman discontinued treatment without alleviating the pain or fixing the damage he had created, according to the Madison-St.Clair Record.
Mr. Mulder is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and any further relief the court sees fit.
