Minnesota dental clinic gets nearly $1.3M to build larger space

Park Rapids, Minn.-based CHI St. Joseph's Health Community Dental Clinic received more than $1.28 million in grants to build a larger location that will provide care for over 3,000 people annually, according to an Oct. 21 news release

The grants were given by four different organizations, with the Delta Dental of Minnesota Foundation donating $425,000, the largest total award. Otto Bremer Trust donated almost $350,000, the Minnesota Department of Health gave over $260,00 and PrimeWest Health donated $250,000.

The community dental clinic provides access to dental services for patients in public care programs and low-income families. Since 2004, the clinic has served patients from 58 counties and 217 communities.

The new facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020 and will be across the street from the current location.

"We are grateful to our many funding partners...Without their support, this new clinic would not be possible," Ben Koppelman, president of CHI St. Joseph's Health, said in the news release.
