A former dental office receptionist in Harrisburg, Penn., received a year and one-day prison sentence Oct. 28 for forging 164 opioid prescriptions, according to local news sourceThe Patriot-News.
Belinda Dietrich, 63, pleaded guilty in April to counts of illegally distributing a controlled substance and making false statements about healthcare matters.
Ms. Dietrich forged the signature of her employer, a solo dental provider, on blank prescription forms, according to U.S. Attorney David Freed.
Between Feb. 17, 2016 and Aug. 2017, Ms. Dietrich forged 164 prescriptions of oxycodone and hydrocodone for herself to family members and friends. The drugs were shared between the group, with more than 5,022 pills obtained through the forgeries.
Ms. Dietrich will begin serving her sentence January 2020. She will be on probation for three years after release.
