Colorado dentist, crown company both offer help to patients of disappeared dentist

A Boulder, Colo.-based dentist is offering free consults and affordable care to former patients of Douglas Sewell, DDS, who abruptly closed his dental practice in October and left patients without records and payments, Denver7 reports.

A patient told John Montoya, DDS, a dentist at Boulder Dental Designs, that her former dentist had disappeared mid-treatment plan, leaving her in pain, according to Denver7. Dr. Montoya offered her free consults and affordable care, an offer he extended to other patients left in the lurch.

Wheat Ridge, Colo.-based Professional Dental Ceramics, a company that made crowns and bridges for Dr. Sewell, is also offering free replacements for patients who never got their pre-paid crowns or bridges, a company spokesperson told Denver7. Dr. Sewell allegedly owes the company thousands for crowns and bridges.

Dr. Sewell's practice, Cherry Creek Family Dental, closed without notice. Patients seeking treatment were met with a locked office and full voicemail box.
