Florida dentist shot on steps of practice

A Hialeah, Fla.-based dentist was airlifted to a nearby hospital Nov. 19 after being shot at the practice, according to local news station WSVN.

Carmen Ramirez, DDS, was shot when she was walking down the stairs of her office building. She was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, where records show she is in stable condition, reports WSVN.

Police are investigating the incident and do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.

The dental practice and nearby business owners are cooperating with the police and have turned over their surveillance videos.
