SmileDirectClub partners with Walmart & 9 other dental company notes

Here's the latest roundup of dental companies that have been in the headlines, including SmileDirectClub and Aspen Dental.

1. The Northeast Delta Dental Foundation recently gave Plymouth, N.H.-based Speare Memorial Hospital's Dental Health — a dental program that provides free or low-cost dental services to children — $2,500 for dental supplies.

2. SmileDirectClub announced Jan. 7 its move into Asia, opening two new locations in Hong Kong.

3. TeleDentists, a virtual dental care provider, has partnered with digital health solution supplier Competitive Health.

4. Mentor, Ohio-based Empire Dental Arts announced Jan. 6 that it had received an investment from private equity firm Evolution Capital Partners.

5. SmileDirectClub announced Jan. 6 that it will roll out a suite of products exclusively in Walmart stores and on the retailer's website.

6. Irvine, Calif.-based Pacific Dental Services announced Dec. 31 that it now supports 800 dental practices throughout the U.S.

7. Aspen Dental opened a new office on Dec. 30 in Hammond, La.

8. Clearwater Dental Associates is opening a new practice in Dunedin, Fla.

9. South Jordan, Utah-based Merit Medical, a disposable medical device manufacturer, opened a permanent on-site dental clinic for employees and their families.

10. The Texas Health and Human Services department approved MCNA Dental to provide coverage for state Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program beneficiaries.
