Patients gathered around a Maryland dental office Feb. 3 to confront the dentist, claiming he owes them money after abruptly closing the practice, the Capital Gazette reports.
About 10 former patients shouted outside the Severna Park, Md.-based dental office operated by Neil Woods, DDS, claiming he accepted payments for unfinished or shoddy work. Eventually, police escorted the dentist to his van.
The office phone was answered with a recording that said the practice was shut down due to "a medical neurological emergency that Dr. Woods is experiencing," according to the Gazette.
Patient Frances Smith told the Gazette she paid the practice $30,000 for implants and permanent teeth.
"In three years, he put in four implants," Ms. Smith said of Dr. Woods. "Two were crooked and two fell out. The bridge I have in my mouth broke, I told [Dr. Woods] about it and he didn't do anything. I had to go home and crazy glue my teeth."
