22 states resuming dental procedures

These 22 states have allowed dental practices to reopen and resume elective surgeries.

Note: This is an evolving situation and may not be an exhaustive list.

Alabama: Nonemergency dental procedures resumed April 30.

Alaska: Dental surgeries resumed May 4, but patients must test negative for COVID-19 within 48 hours of their procedure to be eligible.

Arizona: Dental surgeries restarted May 1, contingent on the implementation of certain safety measures.

Colorado: Elective dental procedures resumed April 26, but must cease if there is a local spike in COVID-19 cases.

Idaho: Gov. Brad Little allowed dental offices to reopen May 1.

Indiana: Elective dental procedures resumed April 26.

Iowa: Dentists can return to work May 8.

Kentucky: Gov. Andy Bashear allowed dentists to resume nonemergency procedures April 27.

Louisiana: Dental offices resumed operations April 27 only "to treat an emergency medical condition, to avoid further harms from an underlying condition or disease and for time-sensitive conditions."

Maryland: Dentists can restart elective surgery May 7.

Minnesota: Dental offices can resume elective surgery May 11.

Nebraska: Dental practices reopened May 4.

Nevada: Dental offices reopened for procedures May 4, with strict safety guidelines in place.

North Dakota: Dentists returned to work May 1.

Ohio: Dental offices reopened May 1.

Oklahoma: Restrictions on dental practices ended April 30.

Oregon: Nonemergency dental procedures restarted May 1, dependent on certain infection control requirements.

Tennessee: Dental offices reopened May 6.

Texas: Elective dental procedures resumed May 1.

Utah: Dental practices reopened May 1, contingent on the implementation of certain infection control measures.

Virginia: Nonemergency dental procedures resumed May 1.

West Virginia: Gov. Jim Justice allowed dental practices to reopen April 30.
