N95 masks, gowns still among top PPE dentists need

N95 masks and gowns are the personal protective equipment items dentists are struggling the most to obtain, according to the latest report from the American Dental Association and Health Policy Institute.

The report surveyed dentists nationwide to see how many days' worth of PPE their practice had during the week of May 18 and received 6,504 responses.

Here are the percentages of respondents who reported they had zero days' worth of PPE, broken down by item:

  • N95/KN95 masks — 15.2 percent

  • Surgical masks — 2.1 percent

  • Face shields — 4.7 percent

  • Gowns — 16.7 percent
